Plugging in at home remains the most effortless way to fully charge your electric car every day. But with more public charging points than ever on our roads – from remote farm shops to motorway services – it’s never been easier to charge on the go.
-
CHARGING DURING A JOURNEY
The majority of charging points on motorways and public roads are known as rapid DC charge points as they are over 7x faster (50kW and above*) than your home charger. A 100kW unit will charge Jaguar I‑PACE up to 100km (63 miles) in just 15 minutes – ideal for grabbing a bite to eat or a coffee break.
-
CHARGING AT YOUR DESTINATION
Destination charging stations are a handy way to charge while going about your day. Usually located at retail parks, restaurants, hotels, gyms and car parks, the majority of these are AC charge points with lower charging speeds of 7kW. A 7kW unit will deliver up to 35km (22 miles) of range per hour.
SIGNING UP TO PUBLIC CHARGING NETWORKS
Although some charge points are free to use, the majority are accessible via convenient payment methods, including mobile apps, membership accounts, or a contactless bank card. The cost of charging in public will typically be a combination of an initial connection fee, the time it takes to charge and/or the amount of energy you use.
We recommend familiarising yourself with more than one network provider to ensure the best coverage and payment methods for your preferred routes – especially when travelling or visiting another country.
