The XF is designed to provide high levels of safety for driver and passengers. High carbon steels, dual-phase, hot-formed boron steels, and bake-hardened steels form a vertical safety 'ring' around the occupant cell.

AIRBAG AND SEAT OCCUPANT SENSING SYSTEM
The Jaguar XF includes two-stage driver and front passenger airbags, front seat-mounted side thorax airbags and curtain airbags. The front seat airbag system is controlled by a seat occupant sensing system to ensure they work only when needed. The Anti-Whiplash System, built into the XF’s front seats, and ‘soft-landing’ technology in the seat-belt retractors soften contact with the airbags in the front. The curtain airbags deploy in the event of a side impact at speeds in excess of 15 mph and provide head protection for outer occupants in both the front and rear of the vehicle.

DRIVER AIDS
The main control module governs key safety functions including:
- Emergency Brake Assist (EBA)
- Electronic Brake force Distribution (EBD)
- Anti-lock Braking System (ABS)
- Traction Control (through engine and brake intervention)
- Dynamic Stability Control (DSC)
- Cornering Brake Control (CBC)
- Engine Drag Torque Control (EDR)
For the first time, the XF adds Understeer Control Logic, to mitigate understeer by intervening through the engine management and braking systems to decelerate and help restore grip to the front wheels. -
TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM (TPMS)
Sensors in each wheel continuously monitor the pressure in each tire and alert the driver to any unusual change that could signal a loss of pressure before it becomes a serious problem.

SECURITY SYSTEMS
A perimeter alarm and engine immobilizer protects your XF. The key-fob controls functions including remote locking for the driver’s door only, or for doors, trunk lid and fuel filler cover. Its encryption system allows for roughly 64 billion combinations. Simply by pressing or double pressing a door handle button, all doors can be locked or double-locked. The XF also includes drive-away locking and the speed at which it operates can be selected via the Touch-screen.
