ENTERTAINMENT AND NAVIGATION

XJ drivers and passengers enjoy a range of superb entertainment, phone and navigation systems, all integrated within the innovative Jaguar iTech™ platform.

  • MEDIA HUB

    The heart of the XJ multimedia functions is a 30GB hard disk drive housed in the center console. As well as holding the car’s sophisticated navigation system, it can store music from up to ten CDs (uncompressed) and will connect to audio, video and memory devices – either through its USB connection, an auxiliary jack-plug or Bluetooth®.

  • AUDIO

    - Standard on the XJ and XJL Portfolio is a stunning 600W audio system, featuring 14 speakers and a powerful DSP amplifier. It plays CDs, MP3-encoded discs and DVD Audio and can play DVD movies on the Touch-screen while the vehicle is stationary. Dynamic Volume Control actively compensates for noise in the cabin.
    - The Bowers & Wilkins 1200W surround-sound audio system is for the true audiophile. Optional on the XJ and XJL Portfolio, it is standard on Supercharged and Supersport models.  Arguably the best system installed in a car and rivaling the best home hi-fi, it features Audyssey MultEQ® audio tuning and state-of-the-art digital sound processing, 20 speakers powered through 15 channels, and features Dolby® Pro-LogicTM IIx and DTS™ Neo 6 encoders and three extra audio channels, available through optional WhiteFire™ wireless digital headphones.
    - HD Radio and Sirius Satellite Radio are both standard on all models (subscription required for Sirius).

  • REAR SEAT ENTERTAINMENT

    The Rear Seat Entertainment system is standard on Supersport and optional on all other models.  It features dual 8 inch screens mounted in the back of the front seat headrests, two wireless headphones and a Touch-screen remote control.

  • PHONE

    The built-in phone system allows the driver to pair a Bluetooth®-equipped phone and make and receive calls using controls on the Touch-screen or steering wheel, or with spoken commands. In addition, Bluetooth® Streaming Technology allows audio content to be streamed wirelessly into the XJ entertainment system.

    NAVIGATION

    The XJ satellite navigation system is based in the internal hard disk drive, which gives much faster access to data. The system can be controlled through the Touch-screen or with spoken commands, and shows information on the Touch-screen and in the Virtual Instruments. The Traffic Message Channel system offers congestion alerts, with possible alternative routes. In addition, when fuel is running low, it automatically displays the locations of the closest filling stations.

    INTUITIVE CONTROLS

    XJ drivers have complete flexibility about how they operate the car’s multimedia systems, whether they are choosing a piece of music, taking a phone call or asking the navigation system for directions.
    - The principle control panel is the high-definition Touch-screen in the center console, which displays all available multimedia options.
    - The Virtual Instruments are also used to offer details of multimedia options – the tachometer to the right of the speedometer is temporarily replaced by alert messages, such as low fuel, or prompts for spoken commands.
    - With the Interactive Voice™ system, many multimedia functions can be controlled with simple spoken commands. The technology is designed to cut the risk of misunderstood commands and works by giving the driver a list of prompts in the Virtual Instruments.
    - Steering wheel controls are another way to operate the multimedia systems – they will switch on Interactive Voice, for instance, and allow the driver to toggle through lists displayed in the Virtual Instruments, adjust the volume and choose pre-set radio stations.
    - Rear-seat passengers on vehicles equipped with Rear Seat Entertainment have their own Touch-screen remote control for both the main entertainment system and the video screens mounted in the front-seat headrests.
