Jaguar iTech comprises the All-New XJ's interactive screen-based technologies, including Virtual Instruments, the HD Touch-screen, interactive controls, Interactive Voice* and the Media Hub.

VIRTUAL INSTRUMENTS
An industry-leading Virtual Instrument display replaces the conventional "physical" instrument cluster. Combining a high-definition display with enhanced functionality, virtual dials appear real and solid on a glass screen set behind the steering wheel. They provide all of the functions performed by traditional analog dials, but also interact with driver inputs to help prioritize the most important information.
As soon as the engine is started, three virtual dials build to replace the floating Jaguar "leaper" graphic, and are populated with information; the center dial houses a speedometer, flanked on either side by a tachometer and an information window with fuel and temperature gauges. To maximize clarity the display employs a "spotlight" effect highlighting the areas showing the most important information such as current speed. For example, if fuel is running low, or the driver is selecting a radio station, the tachometer fades away to be replaced temporarily by the required warning message or menu.
This prioritization goes to another level when the driver selects the XJ's Dynamic Mode. The dials also assume a sporting red hue, and feature a bold gear position indicator that glows red as the rev limiter is approached. -
HD TOUCH-SCREEN
A new, easy-to use high-definition center console Touch-screen complements the Virtual Instruments display. Situated at the heart of the instrument panel, it controls most major functions simply and intuitively and allows the number of conventional mechanical switches to be reduced to a minimum. A masterpiece of clarity and intuitive functionality, it is used to operate the in-car audio system, the telephone, the navigation and the climate control. INTUITIVE CONTROLS
The All-New XJ's steering wheel houses simple and intuitive controls designed to allow easy operation of key driving and in-car entertainment systems while limiting driver distraction. Thumb-operated switches to the left and right of the wheel center hub are used to engage Interactive Voice*, operate the telephone and set the cruise control. Simple-to-use, five-way touch pads on the left and right wheel spokes give access to a host of regularly used functions and vehicle settings. The system is fully integrated with the Virtual Instruments, which display driver input and selections either as part of the information dial or as a menu to toggle through.
The integrated steering wheel controls are especially useful for operating the in-car entertainment system – including selection of audio input, volume, and radio channel presets. The source button toggles through the audio system’s AM/FM/CD modes, plus the hard drive or any external device functions. Select buttons allow features such as CD track change, radio channel pre-set selection or iPod® or MP3 track change if such a device is in use. (Please see Product and Pricing Disclaimer below). -
INTERACTIVE VOICE™ *
With the All-New XJ's sophisticated new Interactive Voice™ many functions can be controlled simply by asking; and all without ever taking your eyes off the road. After pressing the voice control button on the steering wheel interactive controls, the XJ's voice recognition technology allows the driver to give instructions to the navigation system, change Touch-screen displays or make phone calls (using numbers or names). HARD DISK DRIVE AND MEDIA HUB
The All-New XJ's built in Hard Disk Drive and Media Hub revolutionizes the way music and video are brought into and stored in a Jaguar.
The traditional CD changer has been replaced by a 30Gb Hard Disk Drive (HDD). Favorite CDs are simply loaded via a slot in the center console head unit and can be "ripped" and stored to the HDD. The new XJ's satellite navigation system is also HDD based, providing much faster access to data, and the ability to store and update detailed mapping information more easily.
The XJ's Media Hub makes it remarkably easy to connect audio, video or other media storage devices to the car's entertainment system, whether wirelessly via Bluetooth® 2.0 audio streaming, or through the front Media Interface. Located in the center console storage box, a docking panel includes a 3.5mm auxiliary jack plug socket, a 12-volt power supply, plus two USB2 connectors that allow connectivity with a wide variety of USB devices. The dock is compatible with all iPod's® from Generation 3 to iPod® nano to the latest iPod® touch and iPhone™. It will also support any USB mass storage device such as a pen drive or memory stick, and MP3 players with USB connectivity. Full function control of iPod® or MP3 is available through the HD Touch-screen menus, enabling easy search by artist, album title, song title, genre and playlists. BLUETOOTH® V2.0 STREAMING TECHNOLOGY
The All-New XJ features Bluetooth® v2.0 Streaming technology which allows up to five separate cell phone handsets with Bluetooth® capability to communicate with the car's built-in telephone system, with no need for wired connections or cradles. Cell phone calls can be controlled either via the Touch-screen, the steering wheel controls or Interactive Voice*.
Bluetooth® v2.0 Streaming also provides the ability to stream audio content wirelessly into the in-car entertainment system, and to select tracks from a streamed CD using the vehicle's controls. (Please see Product and Pricing Disclaimer below). -
AUDIO SYSTEMS
The All-New XJ offers the choice of two outstanding audio systems. Both feature the first automotive application of the sophisticated Audyssey MultEQ® audio tuning system, which digitally corrects acoustic imperfections created by the cabin environment to deliver accurate, enveloping, distortion-free sound to every occupant. Audyssey technologies in the car are designed to overcome the problems of speaker placement and cabin reflections to deliver rich sound with an enveloping soundstage.
MultEQ® for the car delivers accurate, enveloping, and distortion-free sound for everyone on board. It overcomes acoustical problems using information captured at multiple locations throughout the cabin to correct for both time and frequency response problems. The soundstage is rendered as it is in the recording, vocals become focused, musical balance is restored, musical instruments become precisely localized, and the surround impression is made seamless and enveloping. JAGUAR 600W PREMIUM SOUND SYSTEM
The Jaguar 600W premium sound system combines a powerful DSP amplifier with 14 speakers, including two subwoofers and two front door woofers. Along with the cabin audio output, this system features three additional audio channels that can be accessed through the optional digital wireless headphones. The Bowers & Wilkins 1200W surround sound system offers the ultimate audio experience. Designed specifically for the all new XJ by Bowers & Wilkins, one of the world's leading manufacturers of audio and loudspeaker systems, the system combines 20 speakers powered through 15 channels with state-of the-art sound processing technology. It also features Dolby® Pro Logic® IIx and DTS™ Neo 6 encoders to deliver the exceptional 7.1 surround sound. The result is astonishingly pure sound quality. NAVIGATION SYSTEM
The satellite navigation system is sophisticated but extremely easy to use. It is Hard Disk Drive (HDD) based, providing much faster access to data than CD or DVD based systems, and has the ability to store and update detailed mapping information more easily*.
Controlled from the central Touch-screen or by using Interactive Voice*, the system includes ZIP code entry and offers full directional instructions, with signpost flagging and voice guidance. RDS and TMC (Traffic Messaging Channel)* congestion alerts allow for re-routing, while gas stations are displayed automatically when fuel is running low. The navigation system can be set to interact with the Virtual Instruments. On approach to a intersection or turn, full map information will be displayed in the information dial in the Virtual Instruments. (Please see Product and Pricing Disclaimer below). -
REAR SEAT ENTERTAINMENT*
The All-New XJ's sophisticated Rear Seat Entertainment system allows passengers to enjoy DVD, radio or music stored in the car’s hard disk drive or a connected MP3 Player. This system is operated using a portable Touch-screen controller housed in the rear seat center arm rest, and includes two individual 8-inch LCD screens and two sets of independently controllable WhiteFire® digital wireless headphones. It also includes a Rear Media Interface, allowing connection with a wide range of USB devices*. Rear Seat Entertainment is standard on Supersport and optional on all other models.
