Goodwood Festival of Speed
Friday 3rd - Sunday 5th July 2009
Goodwood Festival of Speed is now firmly established as the world's biggest and most diverse celebration of the history of motor sport - everything from 19th century steam carriages to current Formula One - providing spectators with the opportunity to watch the greatest competition cars from all eras in action. The weekend attracts the biggest stars from the motor racing world - stars such as Moss, Fittipaldi, and Surtees to the stars of today, Hamilton, Button and Alonso. Nowhere else in the world are you able to see such a mixture of motor sport heroes along with the cars that made them famous. Jaguar are a key sponsor of the Festival, and as such, we receive numerous sponsorship benefits - general entry tickets, sponsors passes and private hospitality in Goodwood House.
The theme for the weekend varies from year to year. This year it is 'True Grit - Epic Feats of Endurance' - celebrating the drive and determination of motor racing's heroes, who overcame huge physical, mental and mechanical barriers in their quest for glory. The principal attraction of the weekend is the famous hill climb - this is run on a 1.16 mile course around the grounds surrounding Goodwood House, with entry by invitation only from Lord March.
