Yas Marina Hosts 75 Years of Jaguar
Jaguar celebrates 75 years of beautiful fast cars at the Yas Marina Circuit
This month Jaguar customers, prospects and members of the media took to the race track to experience the performance and purpose of Jaguar’s 11MY fleet of vehicles in a specially created track experience held at the Yas Marina Circuit. The 2011 fleet, described by Jaguar Land Rover executives as the strongest fleet in generations, was taken through a range of dynamic activities designed to test the vehicles’ breadth of capability and sporting prowess.
Activities included a timed obstacle course lap to test driving skill and agility, convoy laps around the Yas Marina circuit to highlight the differences in handling between the different models, sliding through a wet track to demonstrate the effectiveness of traction control and a high speed chauffeur lap to show the full breadth of capability of the Jaguar XJ at the hands of a Jaguar professional racing instructor.
“We’re extremely proud of our Jaguar 11MY line up of vehicles,” comments Robin Colgan, Managing Director of Jaguar Land Rover MENAP.
“Our new fleet is the strongest embodiment of the Jaguar essence that we have seen in decades. We now have three very different beautiful fast cars which are each at the forefront of their individual categories. This is the culmination of 75 years of racing heritage and we’re incredibly pleased to be able to share the performance and racing aptitude of these vehicles with so many guests.”
The fleet which consists of the deceptively fast Jaguar XF mid-sized sedan, the sporty Jaguar XK and the flagship all-new XJ, was completely redesigned by Jaguar Design Director Ian Callum to fit the needs of a new generation and marks a renaissance for the 75 year old British marquee.
Since its official launch and regional debut at the Dubai International Motorshow in December last year, the Jaguar XJ has generated rave reviews from Jaguar customers, car enthusiasts and media. The large luxury saloon has also garnered a string of awards including UK Top Gear's ‘Luxury Car of the Year’, ‘Best High Performance Luxury Car of the Year’ by Automobile Middle East magazine and, most recently, the Car Middle East ‘Executive Car of the Year’ award.
The Jaguar XFR was another firm favourite on the track. With the appearance of a sleek medium sized sedan and the power of a sports car the Jaguar XFR elicits gasps of surprise from passers-by as it dashes from 0-100kmph in just 4.9 seconds. The latest incarnation of the XF is available with an exclusive new Black Pack which brings an added sense of power and purpose to the sought-after XF range. The latest 11MY XF offers a superb blend of performance, value and contemporary desirability, all of which means that Jaguar’s acclaimed XF has now moved even further ahead in the sports saloon market. Contemporary, individual and beautifully crafted, the XF has the soul of a sports car, the style and sophistication of a luxury four-door saloon and the visual excitement of a coupe.
Those attending the Jaguar track day were given a special treat – the opportunity to drive the Special Edition XKR featuring two new optional performance and styling packs – Speed Pack and Black Pack. The packs give Jaguar customers the option to personalise their vehicle to create a car that offers even greater performance without compromising the refinement and luxury for which every Jaguar is renowned. The Special Edition XKR delivers a significantly increased maximum speed – up to 280km/h from 250km/h – and bold exterior styling changes that create the ultimate supercharged Jaguar.
