6th March 2007: Jaguar XKR Portfolio
The XKR is a truly luxurious sports car; the XKR Portfolio is an even more luxurious XKR. Its specification is unique, and very special. Available as either Coupe or Convertible, it combines breathtaking performance and dramatic beauty with exclusive, individual touches of craftsmanship and equipment that lift it to another level.
Exterior DesignThe XKR Portfolio's exterior is muscular and assertive – designed to look fast even when standing still. Signature R styling details such as the Aluminium finish sports mesh grilles, twin bonnet louvres and quad exhaust tailpipes reflect its performance credentials. A host of special features, such as Polished 20" Cremona alloy wheels, red painted brake callipers, unique Celestial Black paint and Milled Aluminium side power vents, set the XKR Portfolio further apart.
Powertrain
At the heart of the XKR Portfolio is a Supercharged 4.2 litre V8 engine. Featuring new twin air intakes and variable inlet camshaft phasing to develop 420bhp and a peak torque of 560Nm. Acceleration is breathtaking - 0 to 60mph in just 4.9 seconds. The supercharger also ensures high levels of power and torque are available at all engine speeds, providing instant throttle response, outstanding mid-range acceleration and excellent driveability.
Portfolio Braking System
XKR Portfolio has the most powerful brakes Jaguar has ever put on a production car – honed by advanced technology, deep understanding, and punishing testing. They were developed with British racing experts Alcon, and brought to production by Jaguar’s Special Vehicles team. They are unique to Portfolio. Their ventilated 400mm front and 350mm rear discs shed heat so effectively that fade is never an issue. Crescent shaped grooves in the discs keep the pads clean; and light, stiff monobloc six-piston front and four-piston rear callipers combine astonishing power and feel with Jaguar refinement.
Transmission
Jaguar’s Sequential Shift 6-speed ZF transmission gives seamless control. This state-of-the-art system provides the speed and excitement of a manual shift with the ease of an automatic. Intelligent software allows the gearbox to respond rapidly to changing conditions and the driver's style.
Choose between Drive, Sport Automatic and Manual modes. For maximum driver involvement, one-touch paddles mounted behind the steering wheel can be used to control gear changes manually.
Portfolio Interior
Jaguar has always understood luxury, but XKR Portfolio takes luxury a little further. The seats, instrument panel, doors, side panels and centre console are upholstered in either full Charcoal or Ivory and Charcoal softgrain leather, each detailed with contrasting twin stitching. Satin American Walnut or Engine Spin Aluminium veneers create an environment that is as contemporary as it is exclusive, whilst a host of unique touches set the interior further apart - from the distinctive Portfolio treadplates and leather-edged carpet mats, to the special roof linings, soft-feel door grab handles, alloy-and-leather gearshift lever and alloy gate surround.
Audio Experience by Bowers and Wilkins
XKR Portfolio is the first Jaguar production car to feature a Bowers & Wilkins Premium Sound system. Like Jaguar, Bowers & Wilkins pushes performance to achieve unrivalled results. And, like the rest of XKR Portfolio, the Premium Sound system takes a superb foundation to the next level. Innovative technology such as Kevlar® mid-range speaker drivers and specially designed aluminium-dome tweeters are at the heart of a system specifically developed and tuned by Bowers & Wilkins acoustic experts. They ensure an extraordinary, immersive audio experience. So even if the language of hi-fi escapes you, the quality of the sound won't.
Driving Dynamics
Quicker acceleration, increased braking efficiency and pin-sharp handling - the XKR Portfolio's aluminium bodyshell and rigid chassis deliver feel-of-the-road feedback that’s both agile and athletic. The driving dynamics of a true sports car are made possible by dedicated steering and suspension tunes, whilst the
Computer Active Technology Suspension (
CATS) continuously adjusts suspension settings for the best possible balance between ride and handling.
Lightweight Construction
The new XKR Portfolio is a sports car that could only be built from aluminium. Its monocoque body is formed using epoxy bonding and riveting techniques more commonly used in the aerospace industry. The result is a structure that is light yet exceptionally strong and rigid. The benefits to the driver are compelling - XKR Portfolio accelerates faster, handles more precisely, stops more quickly, uses less fuel and produces lower emissions.
TechnologyXKR Portfolio features a range of intelligent technologies engineered to enhance the pleasure of driving. These include Keyless Ignition; the Driver Information Centre, which shows messages and key information such as cruise control settings and trip computer data; and a Touchscreen interface that allows easy operation of the climate control, satellite navigation, in car entertainment and Bluetooth compatible telephone system. Optional features include
Adaptive Cruise Control and Active Front lighting.
