75 Years looking forward
Motor shows, race events and classic-car meetings prepare to host Jaguar’s 75th anniversary celebrations.
2010 marks Jaguar’s 75th anniversary, with a theme of ‘75 Years Looking Forward’. It’s three-quarters of a century since founder Sir William Lyons picked ‘Jaguar’ to be the name of his new SS100 sports car. “In 2010, we’re celebrating our past, and 75 years of designing and building cars that celebrate the art of automobile making,” says Mike O’Driscoll, managing director of Jaguar Cars. “But we’re also celebrating the promise of the future and the introduction of the all new XJ. Sir William Lyons once said that a car ‘was the closest thing we can create to something that is alive’, a sentiment that has stood the test of time.”
As well as a focus on the modern line-up of the groundbreaking XK, XF and all new XJ, events will take place during 2010 to celebrate the pioneering heritage of Jaguar’s past. As part of the celebrations, Jaguar will have strong presence at a host of motor shows, race events and classic-car meetings. We’ve listed a few of the major ones below, but take a look at jaguar.com throughout the year for the latest news.
GENEVA MOTOR SHOW (MARCH 4-14)

This year, there will be a mix of old and new from Jaguar, with the launch of the 2011 model year XK and XF, as well as the all new XJ and the second SS100 3.5 Litre to be built. It is the oldest-surviving example from 1937 and a privately owned car with a stunning concourse heritage, including a 100-point class win at the 2009 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.www.salon-auto.ch
