6-SPEED ELECTRONIC AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION WITH
JAGUAR SEQUENTIAL SHIFT™Jaguar Sequential Shift™ is our 6-speed automatic transmission with steering wheel-mounted paddles for manual gear selection. The enhanced electronically controlled six speed transmission represents the latest in automatic transmission technology. A fully adaptive shift system gives smoother gear shifts and constantly adapts to suit your driving style.

JAGUARDRIVE SELECTOR™
Sit in an XK and the start button in front of the JaguarDrive Selector™ pulses red, like a heartbeat. Press it to start the engine and the cast alloy JaguarDrive Selector™ control rises softly into the palm of your hand while the navigation system initializes. Then simply select transmission functions by turning the control with your fingertips, switching from Drive to Sport mode with a simple push and turn action.

JAGUARDRIVE CONTROL™
JaguarDrive Control™ offers a choice of driver selectable modes that tune powertrain characteristics to match road conditions and driving styles. On all models, JaguarDrive Control™ includes Winter Mode which softens the responsiveness of the engine and modifies the gear change strategy to maintain optimum traction in icy or slippery conditions. Dynamic Mode adjusts throttle, transmission and stability control to deliver an even more sporting driving experience. A three stage Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) system is standard. It combines the normal on-off switchable DSC function, which is designed to react as soon as it detects slip, with Trac DSC, which can be selected if the driver wishes to allow more slip before the system intervenes. It also allows a degree of wheel overspin on deep soft surfaces. The system defaults to normal 'DSC on' with each ignition on sequence.

ADAPTIVE DYNAMICS
The balance of comfort and control evident in the suspension was honed by thousands of miles of development. Unlike conventional passive damper tuning, which simply chooses between soft damping for ride comfort and firm damping for responsive handling, new Jaguar Adaptive Dynamics calculates road and driver-induced body motions 100 times per second and continuously varies the damping to suit driving conditions.

ACTIVE DIFFERENTIAL CONTROL
An electronically controlled active differential with handling functionality that limits the slip between the rear wheels to optimize traction and stability in different driving conditions, working in harmony with the Traction, ABS and DSC systems.

ADVANCED BRAKING SYSTEMS
The XK's advanced braking systems were developed and tested extensively at the dedicated Jaguar research facility at the Nürburgring racetrack, Germany. A sophisticated four-channel ABS (Anti-lock braking system) is standard on all models. It delivers enhanced braking performance in a variety of conditions by rapidly varying brake pressure to resist any wheel locking during emergency braking, helping to retain steering control. Emergency Brake Assist (EBA), has been designed to automatically deliver additional brake pressure to bring the braking force into the area where ABS becomes active, should the system sense a rapid application of the brake pedal. The new XKR gains all new R performance brakes which have 380 mm (15 inch) front brake discs with new aluminum calipers, significantly increasing stopping power while resisting fade, even during the hardest use.

ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL
The Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) uses microwave radar technology to monitor for slower moving traffic and can alert you to potential hazards ahead. It can also help control both throttle and brakes to help maintain a constant time gap to the vehicle in front. When the road ahead clears, the system automatically accelerates back to the speed at which it was set. Forward Alert provides an audible warning if traffic ahead slows down or if another vehicle moves into the lane in front. Advanced Emergency Brake Assist is an enhancement to the ACC function. Using the ACC radar, the system calculates distance and speed of approach to the vehicle in front and pre-charges the brakes to potentially help minimize impact speed if a collision is predicted.

ELECTRIC PARKING BRAKE (EPB)
The XK uses Jaguar's Electric Parking Brake. The braking system communicates electronically with the shift-by-wire technology of the JaguarDrive Selector™ function, releasing the Parking Brake automatically as Drive is selected. It can also be engaged and disengaged manually.
