Multimedia in the Jaguar XF

The multimedia technology on the XF range encompasses entertainment, information, communications and navigation systems.

  • INTUITIVE VISUAL CONTROLS

Most of the XF range’s multimedia systems can be controlled from the easy-to-use 7 inch colour Touch-screen in the centre console. The Front Media works through the screen to provide full control of an iPod® or MP3 player, displaying details of playlists and music stored by artist, album and genre.

  • AUDIO AND RADIO

The XF models come with one of three superb audio systems, depending on the model chosen. All have a CD/DVD player and are compatible with iPod® and MP3 players, as well as USB storage devices. The driver and front-seat passenger have full control of the output through the central color Touch-screen.

    - The Jaguar 400W sound system has ten speakers, with a woofer and tweeter unit in each door. For good bass reproduction, the woofer is mounted much higher than it would be in a conventional system. This system is fitted on XF and XF Portfolio

    - The Jaguar 600W premium sound system, standard on XF Supercharged, has a powerful DSP amplifier and 11 speakers – eight mounted in the doors - and a sub-woofer for enhanced bass reproduction.

    - The Bowers & Wilkins 1200W premium sound system, standard on XFR and optional on the other models, has 17 speakers and features Dolby® Pro-Logic II Surround Sound for extraordinary sound quality throughout the cabin. Designed and tuned for the XF by Bowers & Wilkins, the clarity of the system’s sound reproduction is enhanced by Kevlar® cones in the larger speakers and aluminum domes on the tweeters.

    - HD Radio and Sirius Satellite Radio are both standard on all models (subscription required for Sirius).

  • BLUETOOTH® PHONE AND AUDIO

The advanced Bluetooth® technology can link compatible mobile phones to the XF vehicle’s built-in hands-free telephone system, with no wires or cradles. Calls can be made and accepted either through the central screen, the steering wheel controls or the JaguarVoice™ feature.

It is also possible to play streamed music from MP3 players with Bluetooth® through the vehicle’s audio system.

    HARD DISK NAVIGATION AND AUDIO

The navigation system is based on a hard disk drive, which allows for much quicker searches and route calculations than conventional systems based on CDs or DVDs.

Navigation information is initially uploaded through a DVD drive. This DVD drive can also be used to play audio CDs or, while the car is stationary, video DVDs. In addition, material from up to ten CDs can be imported onto the hard disk drive and played through the vehicle audio system.

  • JAGUARVOICE™

With the new JaguarVoice™ fitted on all XF models, the driver presses the ‘voice’ button on the steering wheel and can then use spoken commands to control the audio, climate control and navigation systems, as well as the Touch-screen and Bluetooth® connection. The system incorporates the latest ‘Say what you see’ technology, allowing the driver to respond to on-screen prompts. JaguarVoice™ can be programmed to recognize the user’s voice, which helps the navigation system respond to specific requests such as ‘restaurant’ or ‘Jaguar dealer’.
