Driving Dynamics

The strong, rigid body architecture of the XF provides an exceptional driving experience with taut, responsive steering that will satisfy even the most demanding driver. Adaptive Dynamics allows high performance suspension control while the Active Differential perfectly balances comfort and road-holding for impeccable high-speed handling.

• JAGUAR SEQUENTIAL SHIFT™

  The ZF 8-speed electronic automatic transmission constantly adapts to suit driving style for almost imperceptible, faster, smoother gear shifts with the ability to multi-downshift, avoiding any loss of power between changes.  It allows manual gear shift control using one-touch paddles mounted behind the steering wheel for the instant power needs that manoeuvres like overtaking can demand.

  JAGUARDRIVE SELECTOR™: CHOOSE YOUR DRIVE

  The automatic transmission is controlled by the precision engineered, chrome, rotary JaguarDrive Selector™, which rises into your hand as the "start" button is pressed. It also offers an enhanced performance Sport Mode, exploiting the full power of the XF engine holding on to gears for longer, ready to kick in faster.
  JaguarDrive Control™ offers two further modes to suit your driving preferences or the prevailing conditions.
  Dynamic Mode instantly recalibrates engine responsiveness to deliver even sharper acceleration for a thrilling, sporting experience.
  Winter Mode automatically dampens acceleration to achieve a more gradual traction in slippery and adverse conditions, so tire grip is increased and skid risk reduced.

• DYNAMIC STABILITY CONTROL (DSC)

  Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) maximizes the stability of the XF when it detects the wheels slipping.  A 'Trac DSC' setting can be selected to allow some slipping and overspin before the system intervenes - not only permitting a sportier drive but also essential if driving with snow chains.

• ADAPTIVE DYNAMICS: DESIGNING THE PERFECT RIDE

  Jaguar's optional Adaptive Dynamics system is designed to sharpen and hone the already impressive handling agility of the XF. Adaptive Dynamics deliver a superb balance between a comfortable, luxury car ride and hard-edged sports car handling. The system continuously monitors the speed, steering and body movements, analyzing the suspension response and varying the damping to suit conditions, whether cornering, navigating uneven surfaces or accelerating on an open road. The system calculates the appropriate suspension response 500 times every second keeping the vehicle flat, stable and secure.

  ACTIVE DIFFERENTIAL

  The electronic Active Differential on the XFR is designed to detect any slipping and vary the power supplied to each wheel to help keep the car as stable as possible.

  SERVOTRONIC STEERING

  Variable-ratio power-assisted Servotronic steering makes it easier to park and manoeuvre while allowing more accurate control at higher speeds.

• ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL (ACC): STRESS FREE DRIVING

  When the optional Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) is on, a radar in the front bumper monitors the vehicle in front and, if it slows, the system automatically slows the XF to maintain a constant distance. Once the road clears it will take the car back up to the pre-set speed. The radar also operates the Forward Alert, giving the driver an audible warning if traffic ahead slows quickly or another vehicle moves into the same lane.

  ELECTRIC PARKING BRAKE: QUICK RELEASE

  The XF's braking system works with the JaguarDrive Selector™ to release the parking brake as the car drives away. The driver can also choose to operate the parking brake manually.

  INTELLIGENT STOP/START TECHNOLOGY: LESS IDLING, MORE ECONOMY

  Jaguar is dedicated to lowering emissions without compromising performance. The XF features Intelligent Stop/Start technology which reduces CO2 emissions produced while idling in traffic. The system detects when the engine is not needed and cuts it off. As soon as the brake pedal is released the engine bursts into life, fully operational, before the driver's foot reaches the accelerator. As well as reducing emissions, the system can deliver 5-7 percent improvement in fuel efficiency, depending on conditions.
