DRIVING DYNAMICS

XJ Spectrum Blue

With its rigid, lightweight body and innovative engineering technology, the XJ promises a truly exhilarating driving experience.

  • New XJ - 6-Speed Transmission

    JAGUAR SEQUENTIAL SHIFT™

The enhanced ZF six-speed automatic transmission delivers lightning-fast gear changes, optimizing performance and fuel efficiency. Shift changes are constantly adapted by the system to suit the style of the driver, ranging from economical to sporting. Drivers have the option of changing gears manually with paddles behind the steering wheel.

  • JAGUARDRIVE SELECTOR™ AND JAGUARDRIVE CONTROL™

The automatic transmission is controlled by the beautifully designed JaguarDrive Selector™, which rises into the driver’s hand once the “Start” button is pressed. The driver simply turns the selector to engage transmission settings, or to move from Drive to Sport mode. JaguarDrive Control™ offers further driving modes. Dynamic mode is for the enthusiast driver and adds a red hue and gear position indicator to the Virtual Instruments display. Winter mode gives more progressive control in slippery conditions, and gives the Virtual Instruments an ice blue hue.

  • XJ Rhodium Silver

    ADAPTIVE DYNAMICS

Adaptive Dynamics analyzes speed, steering and body movements 500 times a second and adjusts the suspension with electronic dampers to achieve the ideal balance between comfort and precise handling.

  • DYNAMIC STABILITY CONTROL

The Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) has two settings. The default setting is designed to come into play as soon as it detects the wheels slipping. The TracDSC setting, on the other hand, allows some slipping before it intervenes – this allows for a sportier drive. DSC can also be completely disengaged for special conditions.

  • New XJ - Active Differential Control

    ACTIVE DIFFERENTIAL

The Active Differential will proactively apportion power between the rear wheels to aid cornering. In addition, on loose surfaces it is designed to detect wheel slip and vary the power supplied to each rear wheel to help keep the car as stable as possible. The Active Differential is standard on the Supercharged and Supersport models.

  • AUTOMATIC SPEED LIMITER

By using the Automatic Speed Limiter, XJ drivers are able to set a maximum speed for the car.

  • ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL

The optional Adaptive Cruise Control uses microwave radar in the front bumper to sense if the vehicle in front slows down, and then use the throttle and brake to maintain a constant time gap. Once the road clears it will take the car back up to the previous speed. The radar also operates a Forward Alert, which gives the driver an audible warning if the traffic ahead slows quickly or another vehicle moves into the same lane as the XJ.
