Famous D-Type Goes Back to REIMS

The Jaguar D-type, which won at Reims in 1956, went back to the famous circuit for this year's L’Excellence Automobile de Reims, and received a fantastic welcome from motoring enthusiasts who had travelled from all over Europe to attend.

More than 40,000 people saw the D-type and four other cars from the Jaguar Heritage collection taking part with hundreds of other entries from around Europe.

Stuart Dyble a Jaguar Heritage Trustee who took part and had the opportunity of driving the Trust’s 1988 winning Le Mans XJR9 said:

“This is a fantastic event and one that is growing every year.  We were delighted to take the D-type back to one of its favourite hunting grounds along with the XJR9, the 1983 Jaguar Group 44 XJR-5 E-type, the XFR “Rocketsports” car which became the fastest ever Jaguar when it was officially timed at over 225 mph at the Bonneville Salt Flats as well as our famous C-type from the Jaguar Heritage collection at Browns Lane.”
