Jaguar Australia does not run a Tourist Sales Scheme for the importation of Jaguar cars into Australia by private individuals.
Importation of vehicles into Australia is governed by the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government (formerly known as the Department of Transport and Regional Services) under the regulations set out by their Personal Import scheme for private individuals.
The regulations stipulate that:
1. Vehicles built before 1 January 1989, may be imported into Australia without restriction but require an import approval.
2. Vehicles built after 1 January 1989 cannot be imported into Australia by a private individual unless they satisfy the strict conditions set out in the Department´s Personal Import scheme. One of the key requirements is that the vehicle has been owned and used by the applicant outside Australia for a continuous period of at least 12 months.
3. Visitors, temporary residents, foreign diplomatic personnel, companies and corporations are not eligible to import a vehicle under the Personal Import scheme and should confirm with the Department, the specific restrictions and requirements which apply.
All enquiries and communications regarding the Personal Import scheme should be directed to The Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government at
